Community Conversations: Dr. Carmaletta Williams
August 28 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
“Keepsakes”—In the digital age, what physical objects do we keep? Why? What do they say about us? How do we share them? In what ways are the handmade Black dolls in the exhibition keepsakes? How are keepsakes from the past similar and different from the present?
Join The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures for this thoughtful conversation, led by Dr. Carmaletta Williams, Chief Executive Officer – Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City.

Community Conversations are opportunities to discuss topics connected to Portraits of Childhood: Black Dolls from the Collection of Deborah Neff. Each one is led by a different community member. All are welcome to attend these conversations and consider different perspectives around the exhibition. The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures offers FREE admission and parking to attendees. UMKC students receive FSE credit for attending.
