Community Conversations: Sherry Evon Whetstone
November 10 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This community conversation will consider a personal journey in collecting and making dolls. Sherry Evon Whetstone—textile artist, doll maker, and collector of all things shiny—will share her inspiration for collecting beautiful dolls. For Whetstone, a multigenerational obsession turned into a passion for making dolls and looking for that special fabric that speaks to her spirit.
Join The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures and learn about Whetstone’s creative process for turning cloth into unique, one-of-a-kind dolls. Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite doll of their own to share in discussion.
Community Conversations are opportunities to discuss topics connected to Portraits of Childhood: Black Dolls from the Collection of Deborah Neff. Each one is led by a different community member. All are welcome to attend these conversations and consider different perspectives around the exhibition. The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures offers FREE admission and parking to attendees. UMKC students receive FSE credit for attending.
