Miniature Art Museum / Long-Term Exhibition

The 17-1/2’ long work, created by Los Angeles-based artist Chris Toledo, is comprised of a central atrium and five galleries. The atrium features various classical Greek and Roman architectural elements, which Toledo derived from his observations of design and construction at a number of historic museums throughout the world.

The five galleries are designed to highlight the miniature paintings and sculptures by different artists that are exhibited in them. The initial installation has five thematic galleries: portraits of children, images of domestic life, 17th-century Dutch still-life paintings, landscapes, and Modern Art portraits of women. The installations will change periodically, just as exhibits do in full-size museums, so that visitors can experience the diversity of the Museum’s miniature painting collection and consider the objects through different thematic lenses.

The new exhibition space is part of the Museum’s National Excellence and Community Impact Campaign.
